Madeline Carrasco Henners was appointed by Bishop Joel Martinez to serve Northwest Hills UMC as an Associate Pastor in June of 2007. She is very excited to have the opportunity to serve this congregation and community. She received her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School this May and joined the Southwest Texas Conference as a local pastor.
While attending Duke Divinity School, Madeline experienced four diverse internships, from two local churches, to a 5,000 member congregation, and finally with the Hispanic/Latino Ministries team of the North Carolina Conference. Each internship offered its own insights into Parish ministry and significantly impacted the discernment of her call and preparation to join the Southwest Texas Conference.
Prior to receiving her Masters she completed her BA in Religious Studies from Southwestern University where she also played on their golf team. Madeline started playing golf while in Junior High and High School in Harlingen, where she spent most of her time growing up.
At the age of 15 she became involved with the youth group at Wesley UMC in Harlingen. She also became involved with the Emmaus Community of the Rio Grande Valley. Two years after joining the church she heard her call to ordained ministry.
Madeline and David, an architect from Liverpool, England, were married February 8th, 2007. The story of how they met is better shared over lunch! He is a self-proclaimed "pastor's wife" and is very excited to join the Northwest Hills family.
