GRIEF RECOVERY: Please join us for this six-week seminar dealing with issues surrounding the loss of a loved one. We will explore coping skills and ways to help one grow through this experience into a new level of wholeness. The program begins Thursday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. in room 110. The registration fee is $10.00. Please call the church office to sign up for this seminar led by Diane Coleman and Jan Jordan.

PARENT'S NIGHT OUT is Saturday, September 11 from 5:00-9:30 pm. Sign up in the narthex or by emailing Jean (jmarinus@nwhillsumc.org).

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING offering is next Sunday, September 12. These gifts underwrite the United Methodist Committee on Relief's (UMCOR) "cost of doing business" allowing them to keep the promise that 100 percent of each designated gift goes entirely to specific causes. UMCOR receives no World Service funds or any other United Methodist apportionments.

YOUTH HANDBELLS will be starting next Sunday, September 12 at 3:00 p.m. All 6th-12th graders are welcome! Contact Beth at bjudd@nwhillsumc.org for more information!

CELEBRATION, our terrific Sunday afternoon program for children K-5th grade, will begin next Sunday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m. We will start work on the musical and Ms. Jean has some really fun activities lined up.

DANCE MINISTRY has already begun for the year and there is still time for you to become involved! Regular weekly rehearsals will begin at 4:00 p.m. on September 12 in the Youth Center. Youth and adults are invited and there will be childcare provided. Contact Heather at htaylor20@austin.rr.com.

WOMEN'S BOOK GROUP: The Women's Book Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. in room 109 on Monday, September 13 for Marcia Lind's review of The Undertaker's Wife: Wisdoms and Musings by Celia Hastings. Please join us!

ALPHA DINNER: Join us for an Alpha Dinner Monday, September 13 at 5:00 p.m. in the FLC Activity Center. The Alpha Dinner is a fun way to learn more about the Alpha Course without having to make a commitment first! The course itself will begin Sunday, September 19. Although Alpha provides a practical introduction to the Christian faith, it is not just for "beginners." It is for anyone wanting to learn more about Christianity. There is no cost for the Alpha Dinner, but please call the church office or sign up in the narthex so we can prepare enough food. See you there!

MEN'S STEAK DINNER: How does a 16oz T-bone, baked potato and salad sound? Join the men of NWHUMC for a free meal September 12 at 5:30 p.m. Sign up early to reserve your spot for great food, fellowship and a wonderful program.

TRAVEL NEWS: The first outing of the 2010-2011 season is Saturday, September 18 when we go to Austin Playhouse for an 8:00 p.m. performance of "The 39 Steps." This comedic adaptation of the original Hitchcock thriller from the 1930's is "a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theater." Before the show we will have a family style BBQ dinner at Artz Ribhouse. We will leave the church at 5:30 by van and carpool. The cost is $33. Sign up at the front desk or call the office (345-1743). Reservations and payment must be made by noon on September 10.

SAVE THE DATE for the movie, Invictus, on September 18 at 7:00 pm in the FLC. This drama is based on the real-life story of the aftermath of apartheid when newly-elected President Mandela used World Cup rugby matches to unite South Africa. Bring a snack to share and join us for this first-rate film hosted by the Momentum class.

YOUTH PARENT MEETING September 19 in the Youth Center following the 11:15 am service. We'll discuss the youth schedule, mission trips and volunteer opportunities. We ask that all parents join us for this brief meeting so that we can hear everyoneâs suggestions.

STRETCH OUT YOUR HAND, Exploring Healing Prayer will meet Wednesdays, beginning September 22, 7:00-9:00 pm in room 105. Stretch Out Your Hand leads us on a six week journey discovering how God continues to heal us, body, mind and soul. Come learn with us how we are able to discern his will for us and how to pray for healing for others and ourselves. Call the church office or email Madeline (mc.henners@nwhillsumc.org) to register.

MISSION TRIP: If you canât join us for a week-long mission trip to Nicaragua October 9 there are many ways you can help. Please pray that we will reach the hearts of those who need to know our savior Jesus Christ. We also need to supply 250 children with school supplies: pens and pencils, crayons, markers, rolls of stickers, packages of bookmarks, mini balls, hair ribbons and barrettes, childrenâs books in Spanish, early infant clothing, infant socks, infant caps, and lightweight receiving blankets. Please drop the donations by the church office by October 5th.
