In April of 2002, a space in the lower floor of the sanctuary building at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church was made available for art shows. North Hills Gallery opened with its first show, "Spiritual Gifts" featuring water media and collage by curators Betty Jameson and Carolyn Patterson in May of 2002.
Thereafter, artists working in a variety of two-dimensional media have been invited to show for one month in the gallery. In addition, group shows are encouraged and the gallery sponsors two invitational group shows a year, "All Creatures Great and Small" in May and June and "Advent" in December.
The gallery is supported by a committee headed by Beth Watson, Choir Director", who help with receptions and picture identification cards.
Due to constraints of space we are not able to display 3-dimensional art.
North Hills Gallery seeks to promote local and regional artists in a setting that enhances and inspires artistic appreciation.
From its first show in May 2002, North Hills Gallery has invited artists working in two-dimensions to display artwork.
Fiber and collage artists, painters in oil, pastel, and watercolor, photographers, calligraphers and printmakers have all been featured for one month either as individuals or in groups of two or more.
In addition, the gallery sponsors two invitational shows a year. In May and June it's "All Creatures Great and Small" while December brings "Advent".
Each artist or artist group receives a reception, promotion in local print media, and mention in the church bulletins and newsletter.
Some notable artists featured in the North Hills Gallery include Annis Allen, Patti Troth Black, Janet Campbell, Jerry Seagle, Delda Skinner, Jan Sewall and Kathy Summers.
Artists seeking to display their work should contact the North Hills Gallery Curators: Betty Jameson 345-4546 or Carolyn Patterson 345-4263.
