Welcome new Senior Pastor

Rev. Laura Brewster's first Sunday at NW Hills UMC is July 3rd

Rev. Laura Brewster was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating from PSJA High School, Laura moved to Austin and attended U.T. where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism in 1983. Laura spent the next few years working in the field of TV news. Stops in her journey included KAUZ-6 in Wichita Falls, KFDA-10 in Amarillo, KVOA-4 in Tucson, and KOTV-6 in Tulsa. Along the way Laura felt God using her to highlight important issues such as poverty and racism.

Laura eventually felt God calling her to shift gears and start sharing the Good News instead of reporting bad news. She earned a Master of Divinity (cum laude) from Perkins School of Theology, SMU in December 1995 and has been serving local churches ever since. Laura is married to Scott Clear. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Rachel, who is a student at U.T.

Other tidbits of information:
Favorite Food: Chocolate
Favorite Sport: Longhorn Football
Favorite Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

You now know a little about Laura. She welcomes a chance to get to know you.

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers

2nd and 4th Wednesdays 10:00-noon

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers we mean kiddos from birth through kindergarten. We know it's a little confusing so let's just stick with "MOPS."

We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world. MOPS is a time for us moms to enjoy some food, listen to speakers about flourishing in life, have small group time with other moms and crafts for even those of us not crafty!

A Walk Through the Bible

Tuesdays 7:00-9:00pm Room 111

Led by Paulette Payne, these fascinating discussions continue November 3rd when we'll discuss the kings who ruled after Solomon. Please read I Kings 11:26-16:28 and 2 Chronicles 9:31-16:14 prior to class. Please know you are welcome even if you haven't attended in the past.

Bibles are mandatory and various resources for home study are encouraged: maps, atlas, commentaries, bible dictionary etc. Handouts will be given during class. All are welcome. No previous experience or bible study is necessary. For more info, email Paulette Payne or call her at 512-627-9072. You may also call the church office to register. A $5.00 fee for materials can be paid at your first class. The ultimate goal of this class is to study the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Coffee with the Pastors
The first Sunday of every month our pastors host a coffee at 10:10 am in room 110 for newcomers to Northwest Hills, guests, new members, and anyone with questions about our church. Pastors Charlie and Audrey are delightfully accessible with a great sense of humor, and they look forward to getting to know you and providing more information about this faith community.

Don't be shy, come say "Hi"!
