Holy Week Schedule
Palm Sunday • April 13 • 8:50 & 11:15am
When the day drew near for Him to be taken up, Jesus set His face to go to Jerusalem to die on the cross for us.
Palm Sunday • April 13 • 4:00pm
The Library committee and Pastor Audrey wish to invite you to join in Adam Hamilton’s Lenten Study, "The Final Words of Christ".
Hamilton brings tremendous research and details of Jesus’ last words which even those who have been in seminary find educational. In 24 hours That Changed the World, Hamilton takes us on a journey through the last day of Jesus’ life. In Final Words, the follow up book, he examines Christ’s dying hours and his last words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who witnessed the crucifixion. Then, he moves beyond the cross to Jesus’ words to the disciples on the road to Emmaus and to those who were witnesses to the Resurrection.
In life and in death, Jesus’ words were powerful and meaningful. Despite the serious effort and increased pain required for Jesus to speak as he hung on the cross, he spoke seven statements that have much to teach us about Jesus, His Father and ourselves (ie: "Father forgive them, Behold your son, behold your mother, My God, why have you forsaken Me?, Today you will be with me in paradise, I thirst, It is finished, and Into Your hands I commit My Spirit".
Don't miss this opportunity to be further enlightened about this most special time in Christian history. It is also a perfect way to invite friends to come and participate in our church fellowship and spiritual development! Snacks will be provided and there will be time for group discussion of the DVD. Please sign up by contacting Diane Crawford, Pastor Audrey, or signing up in the church narthex. This will help us know how many to plan for and what size room is needed.
Maundy Thursday • April 17 • 6:30pm
Maundy Thursday, known also as Holy Thursday,
commemorates the Last Supper, or Passover meal, which Jesus shared with his disciples the night before his crucifixion. Please join us in the sanctuary for this special time of worship. Also enjoy a church-wide Lenten meal at 5:30pm in the Activity Center.
Good Friday • April 18 • 6:30pm
Good Friday remembers the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death on Calvary. Based on Biblical accounts of Jesus’ final hours, the sanctuary is usually stripped of its embellishments. This is an important service because we cannot celebrate Jesus’ rising without traveling with Him to the cross.
Easter Sunday • April 20 • 7:00, 8:50 & 11:15am
Easter morning we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and triumph over sin and death. Join us early for our youth led “Son-Rise” worship in the courtyard in addition to our two regular worship services. Don’t miss this opportunity to unite with Christians all over the world in celebrating the joy of the resurrection.
