Last summer, Bob Ford offered made a gift for every single church member – a stained glass panel featuring a picture of the stained glass window in our sanctuary.

Bob asked everyone who accepted one of the stained glass panels to use them in a particular manner. He asked that every time we see our stained glass panel, we allow it to prod us to consider the following question: what is God is asking you to do through this church?

So, has the stained glass panel of our church window actually prompted you to consider how you can serve God through Northwest Hills UMC? If so, what action have you undertaken as a result?

Pastor Laura is asking you to share your responses with her. She wishes to include them in a sermon to be preached on March 3.
You can email your story to lbrewster@nwhillsumc.org

HOSPITALITY

The hospitality committee was created at Northwest Hills last year! It is a combination of old and new activities that help show visitors and members alike how friendly we are! There are opportunities for you to help with these important activities! We would love to have you join us.

Our latest Hospitality group is the outdoor Greeters! These people stand outside and greet visitors and members alike with a wave and a smile. Directions are provided for free and they can lend a helping hand if you need it on Sunday morning. Look for or join our Greeters on Sunday mornings – they are wearing the pineapple stoles showing our hospitality in a tangible way! Contact Mei Beth Shepherd mbshep@sheptechserv.com to join the greeter squad!

Our Welcome and Information Center is a new addition to the church! Paulette Payne and Zel Heaney our church secretary has been doing an amazing job providing information and directing people each Sunday but she can use some help!

1.       8:45, 10:00 and 11:00 am Sunday mornings be at the Welcome and Information center to answer questions and assist visitors and members.
2.       Once a month – bake canned pumpkin bread for 1st time visitor gift bags
3.       ½ hour once a month – assemble 1st time visitor gift bags
Zel Heaney zelheaney@nwhillsumc.org is maintaining these schedules and will be happy to put you on them!

The coffee corner has been updated and enhanced under the hospitality committee! We provide drinks (coffee, tea) and snacks before the Sunday Services as well as a place to sit and visit! There are many opportunities to help with the coffee corner each Sunday. It takes at least three volunteers to make sure the coffee corner is ready each Sunday!
1.       8:30 am – bake or bring six (6) dozen sweets to share and put them out for consumption
2.       10:00 am – tidy up coffee corner and replenish sweets from the closet if needed
3.       12:00 pm – after service put away any leftover sweets and coffee supplies in storage – Ronnie takes care of coffee pots and water thermos!

Volunteer one time, once any month or on a regularly scheduled Sunday (2nd Sunday each month)

Paulette Payne paulettep21@yahoo.com 512-627-9072 does a fantastic job keeping Coffee Corner running smoothly and will help you find a way to help!

The Ushers have been around for many years and are the cornerstone of the hospitality committee! These are church members that make sure anyone who comes to our services knows what is going on (being handed a bulletin or program) and where they can go (directions during communion), collection of offering, and registration of attendance. It’s not difficult to be an usher and we are open to volunteers to help us out one Sunday a month! Michael Norman manages the early service ushers and typically sends out a quarterly schedule of assignments. We need a late service usher manager so let us know if you can help in this way!

Mei Beth Shepherd mbshep@sheptechserv.com 512-426-1273 is the chairperson of our Hospitality committee and will be able to help you fit in if you are looking for ways to help people feel more welcome and comfortable at NWHUMC!
