What is a Reconciling Ministry?

“Reconciling Ministries Network envisions a renewed and vibrant Wesleyan movement that is biblically and theologically centered. As committed disciples of Jesus Christ, we strive to transform ourselves and the world by living out the Gospel’s teachings of grace, love, justice, and celebration of all of God’s children.”

United Methodist Women

Who are we?

A community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

What do we do?

Programs include a yearly study focused on mission or spiritual growth with guest speakers from local outreach and mission organizations. Members assist other NWHUMC groups in outreach and fellowship activities as opportunities arise, and they participate in Conference and District UMW activities, as well as Churchwomen United.

United Methodist Men

Wednesday Breakfast

We host breakfast with a time of prayer every Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.

We are back! For over a year, due to the ongoing pandemic, UMM had been meeting exclusively over Zoom. We are now meeting in a hybrid format, both in person (in the FLC gym) and Zoom.

Please contact the church office for more information.

Clothes Closet for Men Experiencing Homelessness

Central Presbyterian Church is at 8th and Brazos, which is three blocks away from A.R.C.H.  Those in need are signed up at the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (A.R.C.H.), officially known as Front Steps (7th and Neches) and walk to Central Presbyterian Church.  Homeless men can sign up for clothes once a month.  On each visit, they can receive five items of clothing – one of each type (pants, shirts, t-shirts, socks, and underwear).  Other items of clothing such as coats and caps are available depending on donations and handed out on an as-needed basis.

The Clothes Closet for Homeless Men is open Mondays (except holidays) from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM, and has truly developed into a ministry.  Each Monday is begun with a prayer prior to serving those in need.  The prayer includes the words “God help us to see Christ in those we serve today and help us so they can see Christ in us”.

We collect donations for the Clothes Closet on an on-going basis. You can drop items off at the church office or in the box in the narthex (lobby in front of the sanctuary) on Sunday mornings. Pants, shirts and t-shirts may be new or gently used. Socks and underwear should be new donations only.
